Ultherapy® technology versus traditional surgical facelift

Ultherapy® cannot replace the traditional surgical facelift. However, it is a good alternative for those who have skin concerns but are not yet ready for surgery or are looking for extended effects of a non-invasive option.   

How long will results last?

Ultherapy® stimulates production of new collagen below your skin’s surface. The longevity of results depends on each patient’s own collagen production and varies for each individual patient. Each patient’s natural aging process influences the time it takes for the new collagen to be produced on the inside and then translate into visible results on the outside. 

How will I feel when getting the treatment? Does it hurt?

Most patients do report some discomfort during the treatment. However, we can use Pro-Nox, which is an analgesic that helps to relieve pain and anxiety, if needed. We also recommend taking ibuprofen before your appointment. You may feel tiny amounts of energy being deposited to precise depths during the treatment. However, comfort level will vary from person to person. The sensation only lasts while the ultrasound energy is being delivered. 

How much does it cost?

The cost for an Ultherapy® treatment can vary. How many treatments will I need?

Most patients only need a single treatment. However, some may benefit by having more than one treatment. It depends on your skin laxity, how your body responds to the ultrasound, and your collagen production process. 

Who is an ideal candidate for Ultherapy® treatment?

An ideal candidate for Ultherapy® has mild to moderate skin laxity. Other signs of an ideal candidate include:

• Loose skin under the neck and under the chin

• Lines and wrinkles on the chest

• Age 30 or older

Do I need to take time off from work for the treatment?

There is no downtime with Ultherapy®. You can apply makeup and get back to your usual routine immediately with no lasting discomfort or special instructions. 

Is the treatment safe?

Ultherapy® is a proven treatment that is FDA cleared and safe to use. Over 1.5 million treatments have been performed globally to date. Plus, ultrasound energy has been in use in the field of medicine for more than 50 years. 

What about side effects?

Right after the treatment, your skin might experience mild redness. The redness typically resolves within a few hours. Some patients may experience mild tingling, slight swelling or tenderness to the touch. But these are also temporary. Other less common post-treatment effects include temporary numbness on small areas of skin and/or bruising.
