Semaglutide FAQs
Anyone who is on a weight loss journey has probably heard of Semaglutide by now—a medical weight loss treatment that is sweeping the nation. Celebrities are on it; influencers are on it; your aunt with diabetes is on it; your aunt without diabetes is on it!
Here at Mint & Needle, your health is always a top priority. We are offering Semaglutide as a Medical Weight Loss service through an individualized treatment program. But we understand that many of you have questions about this seemingly magic new treatment, so we are here to answer some of them today!
What is Semaglutide?
Semaglutide is a medicine that was designed to be prescribed for adults with Type 2 diabetes—the version of diabetes where your body does produce insulin but is having trouble using it correctly. (Type 1 diabetes is the version where the body does not produce insulin at all; it usually shows up in childhood or young adulthood.) It manages the body’s insulin and blood sugar levels to keep them in normal ranges.
How does Semaglutide cause weight loss?
By imitating a hormone that the body releases after eating, Semaglutide generally suppresses feelings of hunger. Especially when combined with exercise and healthy eating, this results in weight loss.
How do I start the Semaglutide service at Mint & Needle?
You’ll begin your Medical Weight Loss program with an initial consultation, during which we’ll make sure that nothing in your health background would make taking Semaglutide unsafe and to talk about use of the medication. The consultation fee for this appointment will then get applied to your account and can be used for this program or for other Mint & Needle services.
After your consultation, you can begin a monthly cycle of injections of the medication and regular blood work. Each month of service is bundled at $500, which includes the costs of all medication. You can stop service at any time, but your Mint & Needle provider will talk you through steps that can be taken to reduce weight regain after stopping.
If you have any further questions about getting started with Semaglutide, we are here to help! Feel free to come into our Middletown or Lewes, Delaware offices or book an appointment online.
