Anti-Wrinkle vs Fillers: Which Treatment is Right for Me?

Until we find the fountain of youth (and yes, we’re working on that!), injectables will remain a popular form of anti-aging treatment. Patients often ask the Mint & Needle Team: Which service is right for me... Anti-wrinkle injectables, fillers, or both?

The best way to understand the difference between these two injectable treatments is to remember:

  • Anti-wrinkle injections are designed to relax muscles, giving you a refreshed look while preventing and improving fine lines.
  • Fillers add volume to deeper lines and areas that may have a sunken appearance.

Let’s break these down further.

Anti-wrinkle Injectables

MINT & NEEDLE'S ANTI-WRINKLE INJECTIONS use either Botox, Xeomin, or Dysport (based on patient needs) to relax muscles beneath the skin, allowing the dermis to heal, resulting in reduced appearance of lines and wrinkles.

As we age, our skin loses its collagen and elasticity over time. Combine that with wrinkle-forming habits, such as: rubbing your eyes, sleeping on your side, not properly washing your face, or using the wrong cleansers, and suddenly, you’re noticing fine lines.

fillers versus anti-wrinkle injections

Anti-wrinkle injections serve as a neuromodulator, aiming to modify the muscle action that causes a specific wrinkle formation. This in-office treatment often takes less than 15 minutes, with the muscle relaxant results appearing within 2 to 7 days, and the maximum effect being seen in 1 to 2 weeks, depending on which product is used.

Fillers

MINT & NEEDLE’S FILLERS are used to replenish volume in areas where it may be needed. Though common treatment areas include adding volume to fill out smile or frown lines, fillers can also be used to: contour the face, sculpt your jawline, and enhance your lips, temples, cheeks, hands, and more.

Our in-office fillers procedure is also quick. Mild swelling and post-treatment bruising is normal for up to 2 weeks. Results are seen immediately, though maximum results will be visible once swelling resolves.

Filler Dissolve

The Mint & Needle team also offers filler dissolve treatment for those who are unhappy with past fillers they’ve received elsewhere. It is best practice to dissolve that old filler and wait at least one month before injecting new fillers.
